
PHACO TRAINING COURSE
Our mission is to provide ophthalmologists with the most comprehensive and practical surgical training in Egypt, enabling them to perform phacoemulsification independently and confidently.

Course Structure:
- Opening Session: begins with a theoretical lecture covering:
- Patient selection and preoperative evaluation
- Surgical steps and techniques (basic & advanced)
- Management of complications
- Postoperative care and follow-up
- Hands on Training right after the lecture, candidates start performing cases under direct 1-to-1 supervision.

Training Progression Roadmap:

I. Basic level

Clear corneal incisions

Continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis

Hydrodissection & hydrodelineation
-
Nucleus management with divide & conquer technique
-
Cortical cleanup and IOL implantation

II. Intermediate level:
-
Improving surgical speed and fluidics control
-
Advanced wound construction techniques
-
Refinement of divide & conquer technique
-
Introduction to stop & chop
-
Managing early intraoperative complications
-
Exposure to moderate cataracts and slightly complex cases
​​
III. Advanced level:
-
Mastering stop & chop and direct chop techniques
-
Handling hard cataracts & small pupils
-
Capsulorhexis in white/brunescent cataracts.
-
Management of posterior capsule rupture & vitreous loss
-
IOL implantation in subluxated lenses and complex scanario
Important Note: Some of advanced cases arise only when complications occur naturally during surgery, so the number of such cases cannot be guaranteed. Candidates will always receive:

Hands-on training whenever advanced cases are available.

Detailed teaching on complication management

Learning Outcome:
By the end of the course, candidates will:

Master essential and advanced phaco techniques (Divide & Conquer, Stop & Chop, Direct Chop)

Gain experience with both routine and complex cataract cases under expert supervision
